One of my favorite emoji’s is the crystal ball. Naturally I decided to do an embroidery of it!
It is done in a 6″ wooden embroidery hoop painted white. It is on black cotton using two different purples, gold, and silver embroidery floss.
I liked this one so much I also made a necklace out of it!
It is done in a 1.5″ wooden embroidery hoop.
Both of these are available in the shop for sale.
Hi! I’ve been awful at updating (it’s been 9 months, awful is an understatement). I’m still embroidering, though! Instagram (follow me @toocrewel) makes it easy to not update, because I can post what I’m working on as it is happening. I remember when blogging was the main wait for me to show my work, and I miss it! So, here I am. Today I’m sharing with you a little embroidered necklace I recently made!
This little guy is probably one of my favorite necklaces I’ve made to date. The embroidery hoop itself is made by Dandelyne (Sonia has created such a community with her little hoops, seriously check her out!).
I did the embroidery on a medium weight white linen, and used mustard yellow, black, a silvery purple, and gold embroidery floss.
I have this necklaces listed in my shop, and since I updated last my necklaces are actually cheaper! They are now available for $15 +shipping.
For this necklace I wanted something that reminded me of the moon, but was a little bit abstract.
I used three different variations of grey for the embroidery.
You can see more of this moon inspired piece in the shop.
Recently I ordered a new set of mini hoops from Dandelyne, this time I got some horizontal ovals, and they were really fun to work with.
For this one I used four different shades of purplse and maroons, and also a little be of gold embroidery floss.
To make this I just outlined the shape of the hoop with a water soluble pen, and then I just started randomly filling it in.
I am very much in love with these colors, and I want everything in them now. This necklace is up for sale in the shop.
Stay tuned for more this week!

I have another necklace design in a mini hoop to share today. This one is in an oval hoop, though! I’m obsessed with these little ovals and I can’t wait to buy some more.
This embroidery is done on a white linen, that I had dyed with blue and gold acrylic paint.
You can see more on this necklace in the shop, because it is for sale!
Today I have another mini embroidery hoop necklace to share!
This one is of the symbol for female and/or girl power. It is done on charcoal linen, using pale blue and teal embroidery floss.
This piece has sold, however if you’re looking for more pieces with the female symbol check this one out!
ps. Get your own mini hoops from Dandelyne on etsy.
Remember how I said that I was now obsessed with these mini embroidery hoops from Dandelyne? Well, I am, and here is another necklace in one to prove it.
If you know the band the Descendents, you’ll know what this one is. But if you don’t, it is of Milo.
I’m planning on restocking this piece as soon as I get more mini hoops, because this piece is sold (and was my fastest selling piece yet, thanks Descendents fans!).
Lately I’ve been really getting into doing mini embroideries, and Sonia over at Dandelyne on Etsy makes the perfect little hoops for these! I’m obsessed.
For this piece I wanted to do something abstract, where I could focus mostly on the color and texture. Texture is my favorite part of embroidery and crewel.
Initially I was going to do an ombre effect in the hoop, but then it just kind of morphed into this. But I love it. You can read more about this piece in the shop, where it is for sale.
