Costume Party Take Two

This weekend I had my second round of Halloween Parties to attend. I threw together a really cute costume on Saturday evening before heading out! I made a fox costume, Bryan said like I looked like the Pokemon fox, and others said I looked like the fox from Sonic.

The mask I made out of felt, and elastic. The dress I made out of fleece, and the white “fur” is felt. I was working on a budget, and all of this cost me under $20.00!
I also had orange gloves I turned into paws, but forgot to wear those for the photos.
Since I made the dress out of fleece it was so comfy, and I didn’t have to worry about hems, which made it so easy to make! It is just two stitches up top, and one stitch on each side.
Bryan and I’s roommate, Lauren, was a babushka (a nesting doll). It was so cute.
Bryan was the Devil Robot from Futurama. His mask was pretty awesome, it’s hard to tell what it really looks like in this photo, but it has big ole teeth underneath there, too.

Did you guys do any halloweenie stuff this weekend?

xoxo.

Costume Party and Pumpkin Carving

Happy Monday! It came too quickly if you ask me. I had my first costume party of the season this weekend, stopped by one of my best lady friend’s baby shower, and stayed at Bryan’s brother and sister-in-law’s house for a pumpkin carving contest to celebrate his dad’s birthday. It was a fun and festive weekend!

This is the creepiest I have ever looked. I’m Marceline from Adventure Time!
On the left we have Bryan and I’s roomie, Lauren, as Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation, and Bryan is Rick Devos. Rick Devos is apart of the Devos family from Michigan, and the creater of Art Prize. Bryan threw money at people all night- he nailed it.
Marceline and Princess Bubblegum!…and you guys! I made the Princess Bubblegum dress! It is by no means perfect, but it is the first dress I’ve ever made, so I’m pretty pumped about it.
Somehow Carrie didn’t went the best costume award, but she totally should have. She nailed it!

Check out the pumpkins we carved too!

I hope everyone else had a fun and festive weekend!

xoxo.

Giveaway Winner & Weekend Wrap Up

Happy Monday everyone! I’ve had a busy week and weekend, sorry I’ve been MIA!

This weekend was one of my girlfriend’s bachelorette party, and like the classy gals we all are we headed up to Traverse City, MI and went on a wine tasting tour. It was the first time I went wine tasting, and the first time I went to Traverse City. It was beautiful, and so much fun. I didn’t take too many photos, but here are a couple of Instagram shots from the weekend!
The bride to be at one of our stops!
Myself and a few of the other ladies at one of the wineries…that was in an old insane asylum. Creepy!
On the way home we stopped at my roommates Mom’s house, she just got these cute little kittens. I never used to like cats, I guess my roommate and her kitty, Walter, converted me.

Weekend in Detroit

Happy Monday!
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, because I know I did. Bryan and I went to my cousin Steve’s wedding downtown Detroit, it was seriously the best location for a wedding…ever. It was at The M@dison on the roof, which overlooked all of downtown and was pretty much right next door to Comerica Park.
My little sister, Aubrey, and I gettin’ ready for the wedding. Isn’t she so beautiful?
Aubrey and Bryan, two of my favorites!
At the M@dison for the wedding!
My mother and I.
Such cool chairs!
Warmin’ up by the fire.
Bryan and my step dad, Lenn, soakin’ up the view.
Wedding time!
There was food stations…polish, greek, and a mashed potato bar!

Such a fun weekend, and such a beautiful wedding! It was wonderful to see my family, as always.

What did you guys do this weekend?

xoxo.

I’m back!

Hey guys! So almost a week later our internet is finally set up, somehow communication companies have the worst communication. I’m not sure how that works, but what matters is that I’m back!

This week I started to set up our studio space, and I started my first “inspiration board.” I need to start collecting things to add to it, but I have a pretty good start so far.

I painted the bulletin board gold, and the frame a minty color.

The rest of the room is starting to come together, but there is absolutely still room for improvement.
Between Bryan, our roommate Lauren, and myself we have a lot of random stuff, but so far it is so nice to have a space to go and just work. It really does clear up so much room in the rest of the house.

Do you have a studio/craft room? If so, what is your favorite part of the room? Any storage suggestions?

xoxo.

ps. This is our new house, isn’t it so cute?!

Weekly Wrap Up: Beachin’ It

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a weekly wrap up post, but it has been a pretty great week so how can I not share a little bit? Yesterday we finally took our first trip to the beach this year, well, it wasn’t really our first, however, it was our first trip with the sun out. Bryan and I grew up in quite the little beach town on Lake Michigan, that just so happens to be known as Coast Guard City USA (and has one of the top five beaches in the US according to Good Morning America!). We live a half an hour inland from it now, but still I always take for granted that we have such a nice beach so close to us.

Bryan got one swing in and then the bat broke. Whoops.

Post beach foodies.

And just beacause this is what I’ve spent most of my time doing in between packing up our apartment…

Now for some more fun this weekend!

xoxo.

Rainy Trip to the Beach

The nice thing about living in West Michigan is that there are about a million beaches, the bad thing? The random weather. Last week Bryan and I took a trip to our hometown to go to one of the beaches, eat pizza, and try to find some super nintendo games (Bryan just got a super nintendo!). It decided to rain all day, which was a total bummer, it was so cold.

I still don’t have a digital camera, so these were taken on film. I was sad to learn that hardly any place develops film anymore. I guess it really is the end of the film era. Too bad.

Etsy Adoration: Embroidery Love

It’s been a while since I did an Etsy Adoration post, so I figured it would be perfect to wrap the week up with. This week I fell in love with some new embroidery pieces from some pretty great shops.

This shop has the cutest pieces with a little bit of sass.

I love how she filled in some of the letters on this and the mix of fabrics.

Okay, I need these. Teeny tiny embroidery hoops to put fabric into, and use as a pendant for a necklace or earrings!

I saw this and realized it has been far too long since I made any “notebook paper” pieces. This must change!

I love the mix of colors and simplicity of this.

 Just a friendly reminder!

Have a great weekend!
xoxo.

I’m back!

Hello, hello, hello! I’m back from a wonderful weekend showing my mother around the city I live in. We ate at some of my favorite restaurants, looked at old photos, went to Fredrick Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park, the Grand Rapids Art Museum, and spent plenty of time catching up.

xoxo.

ps. Today is the last day to enter this giveaway!

Trees, Saws, and Horses.

This weekend Bryan and I went with his family to cut down Christmas trees, it’s a fun tradition that they hold. Bryan’s parents got us our first real tree! I’m so excited about it, it’s so little and cute!

The first place we went to was a rip off, there were hardly any trees, there were maybe two good ones, and they were seriously over priced. Then we lucked out and found the best place ever, close to Indiana. They took you on a horse ride up to where you cut down the trees, had free hot chocolate, personalized ornaments, it was so great.

Bevin, whose three, told us “I’m having so much fun with you guys!” Too freaking cute.

Our silly little tree! Isn’t it so cute?! Bryan’s parents got us those C and S ornaments (for our last names), they are made out of sweaters, they’re my favorite.

Then my step dad was in the state visiting, so we met for lunch. It was so nice to see him. We ate at Michigan Brewing, Co., talked about collectables, his and my mom’s recent trip to France, and his crazy students at Northern Arizona University.

It’s been a good couple of days. What have you been up to? Also, real tree or fake tree?

xoxo.
